In 2018, the Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comic book series began with its first issue. The IDW comic book line was a reboot of the long-running comic series known as the Archie Sonic The Hedgehog series, which had been running since the early ’90s.
Since the initial release, I have been ordering the comic book series in volumes because shipping individual issues to Europe proved to be a bit of a hassle. This means that I have to wait until various issues can be bundled into volumes, which lead to me getting out of touch. Three weeks ago, I vowed to read three volumes every Sunday, and so far? Well, let’s just say that I love it. From the buildup to the Battle of Angel Island to the emotional Infection arc, this comic book series proves that the Sonic universe, when expanded upon, has a lot of potential for storytelling.
